2004 - Present: Associate Chair, Dept. of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, University of Hawaii School of Medicine.
1987 - 2005: Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center: Director of Integrative Medicine, and family practice physician.
1987 - Present: Private practice specializing in nutrition-related disease and integrative medicine. As part of this practice, Macrobiotics, an approach recognized by the NIH as an "alternative" nutrition modality based on oriental medical principles is integrated with modern medical practice.
1989 - 2005: Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center: Co-Founder of Waianae Diet Program, a program that integrates traditional Hawaiian healing principles with modern nutrition and medical practice.
1996 - Present: Hawaii Health Foundation: Founding President of this organization whose purpose is to promote health through an integration of traditional healing principles with modern medical science.
